Latest sightings News:
The Sapphire Coast region has been very productive recently with large numbers of whales moving through the area. In recent weeks unprecedented numbers of southern right whales have been sighted between Narooma and Eden. Some sightings have included up to 9 individual whales together in what looked to be a mating group. In addition to this, at least three separate pods of killer whales have been making their presence felt hunting seals near Montague Island and chasing fish near Eden.

As a result of a healthy upwelling along the coast, the feeding season for humpbacks has kicked off early with consistent feeding recorded between Eden and Narooma since August 21. Finally, also linked with this upwelling, numerous common and bottlenose dolphins along with seals and birds have been observed feeding around the humpback whales. As with anything to do with nature, no-one can be sure how long this activity will continue but it is a very positive start to what is sure to be another great season on the Sapphire Coast.
