MMR Marine Explorer Expeditions - 27th & 28th October 2011 EDEN

2 FULL days on the water
(9-hrs per day Thursday and Friday)

Onboard ‘Reel Affair’ a purpose-built
38-foot fly bridge Mariner Cruiser with twin caterpillar diesel engines. With over 12 years experience and knowledge of the waters of the Sapphire Coast.

Eden is one of the only places to witness the feeding
behaviour of the humpback whales in NSW, or you
would have to go to antarctica to see feeding whales.

Assist in the collection of data on marine life on the Sapphire Coast, focusing on the southern migration of the humpback whales. There is also the possibility to observe killer whales, southern right whales, common dolphins, little penguins & seals. Data collection will include acoustic recordings, photo identification used for population estimates, pod structure & behaviour.

Boat will depart Snug Cove wharf at 7:00am & return approximately 4pm (meet at 6:30am at Snug Cove wharf). Price includes 9 hours on the water for 2 days, morning tea, lunch, tea & coffee, nibbles & drinks on board all day. Evening meals at your own expense.

Limited to 12 on board + crew. On water activities are weather dependant & under the instructions of the boat skipper.
Accommodation is optional.

This is not a pleasure cruise, if you get sea sick please take precautions. Prices & package are all inclusive & non negotiable. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required within 48 hours of submitting your booking to secure your space onboard (payment will secure you a place on the boat). The balance must be paid 5 days prior to the date of departure. There will be NO refund if you cancel within the 5 days prior to the date of departure. Full refund if the trip is cancelled due the unfavourable weather conditions (only if trip is cancelled by the boat captain).

Features of the Humpback Feeding trip:
The opportunity to witness the spectacular humpback whales as they make the most of the productive waters of the Sapphire Coast opportunistically feeding on krill and baitfish.
Other species sighted during this time of year include; killer whale, sperm whale, bottlenose dolphin, common dolphin, dwarf minke whale, southern right whale and multiple species of sea birds. All in the shadow of the spectacular coastline of the Sapphire Coast.

Features of the Humpback Cow/Calf trip:
The opportunity to see female humpbacks with their calves as they make the long southerly migration. The Sapphire Coast provides sheltered waters for these animals to rest and for the calves to learn and hone their newly acquired skills.
Other species sighted during this time of year
include; killer whale, sperm whale, bottlenose dolphin, common dolphin, dwarf minke whale, multiple species of sea birds all before the backdrop of the spectacular coastline of the Sapphire Coast.
